Some of these youth were close friends to my own children, Bethany and Bart, who without having a vote, made a great sacrifice to share their mother with the church. What makes a great mother of faith? It is the one who shows up week after week in worship to shake the hand of a youth in the fellowship moments, even with the long list of things to do stuck to the side of the refrigerator with an over-sized magnet. It is the one who sets aside offerings regularly to contribute to the ministry not just so the doors will remain open and ready to receive them, but so the doors will remain open and ready to send them out into the world with a faith that shines light like a halogen bulb. A great mother of faith will pray for, encourage, listen and celebrate the babies who grow into children, who grow into youth, who grow into young adults and then remain faithful as they grow into adulthood. If you are a woman in the church reading this, I hope you will share in this special ministry of motherhood that is not a bilogical call, but a bibliological call that comes from Hebrews 10:24, where we read, "And let us consider how to stir up one another in love and good works."
God bless you, Pastor Vickie Firch
